Manufacturing Engineer - Tooling Design

Essential Responsibilities:
A strong ability to work with Design Engineers and Manufacturing to design, develop and implement the necessary production tools, jigs and fixtures during new product development. Engage with manufacturing to design production aids that will be useful on the production line in error proofing the production process and reduce the amount of labor hours required to perform the standard work. A strong emphasis is placed on production aids which can be used in welding fabrication, proper location of critical automotive assemblies, plastics trim fixtures, and interim fixtures prior to outsourcing various components.Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods. Confers with vendors to arrange for purchase of tooling in accordance with the project development schedule. Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
Perform time studies and line balancing activities to optimize flow.
Evaluate and design quality systems for manufacturing processes and machine shop environment.
Evaluate and design efficiency improvement in the manufacturing process.
Design jigs and fixtures for manufacturing processes with emphasis on mistake-proof and Poka-Yoke.
Document manufacturing processes.
Liaison between Manufacturing and Engineering during new product introduction
Requirements:
Degree required, 5 years proven experience as Manufacturing Engineer engaged in the design of jigs and fixtures for assembly and fabrication..
Minimum 3 to 5 yrs. exp in a manufacturing process environment (welding, machining, etc)
Lean Manufacturing Experience required.
Strong organizational and communication skills required.
SolidWorks (2010) experience preferred.
