Job Description Summary: The Certificated Inspector holds a valid FAA Repairman's License (with ratings, privileges and limitations same as the service center employed at) or holds a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (or Airframe and Electrical or just Airframe) license and inspects products to ensure they meet all required internal and external specifications and regulations.
Primary Responsibilities . Performs preliminary, in-process and final inspections to emergency equipment, in accordance with approved maintenance manual documentation, OEM drawings, service bulletin and service newsletter specifications, airworthiness directives and customer unique specifications. . Performs receiving inspection to incoming spare parts and materials in accordance with the service center (RSM) Repair Stations Manual receiving inspection procedures. . Interfaces with service center operations and quality control staff to specify and verify maintenance performed to emergency equipment is accomplished in accordance with approved data. . Follows quality control procedures to report non-conformances to product (i.e. utilizes Escapes database, FAA M&D Reports, FAA on-line SDR System, and customer unique non-conformance report standards) can provide troubleshooting investigations, write reports and determine corrective/preventative action plans. . Duties include performing: o receiving inspection of spare parts and materials to ensure these were received free from damage, have proper source quality control approvals and meet service center purchase order provisions, o preliminary inspections to emergency equipment to determine complete scope of maintenance needed (to include complete service bulletin and airworthiness directive research), performing conformity inspections and documenting the results of these inspections in the form of a preliminary inspection report (utilizing the service center SAP database). o in-process inspections of maintenance performed to emergency equipment to ensure the work performed by maintenance technicians (i.e. tests, packing, repairs, etc.) were properly performed. o final inspections to emergency equipment to ensure all maintenance specified by preliminary inspection has been accomplished (i.e. audit work packages, inspect final condition of product, etc.). o return to service activities (i.e. complete teardown report forms, FAA 8130-3 forms, EASA Form 1 forms, customer required maintenance release forms, etc.).
o can evaluate and apply simple lean tools and 5S principals to work area to ensure a high degree of productivity is maintained. o can also perform direct maintenance work (i.e. act as a maintenance technician to perform physical inspections, tests, repairs and packing) to emergency equipment and can assume other key positions within the service center (i.e. back up to senior inspector, materials technician, shipping/receiving, etc.) as trained. o Can perform these duties at sites outside of the repair station (i.e., travel to airports, airline maintenance hangers, etc.).
Basic Qualifications: Required: . High school diploma or GED and minimum 18 months (FAA required) experience with all procedures, practices and tooling utilized in the performance of maintenance to aircraft emergency equipment.. . The ability to read and understand all manners of approved maintenance data (maintenance manuals, packing instructions, service bulletins, newsletters, FAA directives, customer purchase order specifications, OEM drawings and specifications and other related industry approved data). . The ability to make accurate and legible free-hand unit work record entries, and write reports using standard office computer software's (i.e. MS office, Adobe, SAP, etc.). . Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Including the use of standard mathematical formulas to derive measurement tolerances and calculate conversions from one type of unit of measure to another type. . Must be proficient in communicating with fellow employees, staff and official visitors both verbally and through written word. . Read, write, and understand English.
Working Conditions - Physical requirements and environment . Works in a fast-paced and diverse service environment. . Must dress appropriately for the work environment employed in, and wear certain types of PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) wherever appropriate in the service center.
